Differentiated Worksheet Planning Guide

دليل تخطيط أوراق العمل المتمايزة

One objective, three routes. Plan a worksheet so every student works towards the same goal, with the right amount of support or challenge.

هدف واحد وثلاثة مسارات. خطّط ورقة العمل بحيث يعمل كل طالب نحو الهدف نفسه، مع القدر المناسب من الدعم أو التحدي.

Step 1 · Start With One Objective

الخطوة 1 · ابدأ بهدف واحد للجميع

Write the objective first. All three versions must lead to it. Then plan the routes:

2

Support Version

نسخة الدعم

☐ Word bank
☐ Sentence starters
☐ One worked example
☐ Shorter text in small chunks

☐ بنك كلمات
☐ بدايات جمل
☐ مثال محلول
☐ نص أقصر مقسّم إلى أجزاء

3

Core Version

النسخة الأساسية

☐ The main task most students can do on their own
☐ Clear instructions and one example
☐ A mix of controlled and freer practice

☐ المهمة الرئيسية التي ينجزها معظم الطلاب بمفردهم
☐ تعليمات واضحة ومثال واحد
☐ مزيج من التدريب الموجّه والحر

4

Challenge Version

نسخة التحدي

☐ Open questions: “Why?” and “What if?”
☐ Students create their own examples
☐ Explain a rule or correct mistakes
☐ Longer or more complex writing

☐ أسئلة مفتوحة: «لماذا؟» و«ماذا لو؟»
☐ يكتب الطلاب أمثلتهم الخاصة
☐ شرح قاعدة أو تصحيح أخطاء
☐ كتابة أطول أو أكثر تعقيدًا

Step 5 · Example and One Check for All

الخطوة 5 · مثال، وسؤال تحقق واحد للجميع

Objective: Grade 11 students can use the present perfect continuous to describe recent activities.

VersionTaskScaffold
SupportComplete 6 sentences with the verb in bracketsForm box: have / has + been + verb-ing; one worked example
CoreComplete 6 sentences, then write 3 about your own weekOne example
ChallengeWrite a short paragraph about a busy week and explain when we use this tenseNone

Same exit question for everyone: “Write one sentence about something you have been doing recently.” This lets you compare progress fairly.

سؤال خروج واحد للجميع: «اكتب جملة واحدة عن شيء تفعله في الفترة الأخيرة.» يتيح لك ذلك مقارنة التقدم بإنصاف.

Good practice · ممارسات جيدة

☐ Label versions by colour or shape, not “easy” and “hard”.
☐ Let students move up to the next version when ready.
☐ Groups change from lesson to lesson; they are not fixed labels.

☐ سمِّ النسخ بالألوان أو الأشكال، لا «سهل» و«صعب».
☐ اسمح للطالب بالانتقال إلى النسخة الأعلى عندما يكون مستعدًا.
☐ المجموعات تتغير من درس لآخر، وليست تصنيفًا دائمًا.
